About Us
Hyde Park Finance is an independent, entrepreneurially owned and managed direct lender of secured development and bridging finance on real estate assets in the UK to private individuals or limited companies.
We set up in 2015 in response to the needs of various property professionals where mainstream bank finance was either too slow, too conservative, too restrictive or simply not available.
We are 100% self-funded, which means we lend our own capital and do not need to rely on third-party sources of funding. Our team consists of a small number of experienced, hands-on and commercially minded financiers. We believe in relationship-driven lending – you will only ever deal with one person from loan application to loan drawdown. We pride ourselves on offering fast, commercial and consistent decisions.
We specialise in secured loans ranging in size from £1,000,000 to £15,000,000 for periods from 3 to 24+ months. Unlike a bank, we are more relationship driven than rigid on lending criteria as we take the time to understand the peculiarities of your particular requirement and structure an individual solution to this.

David Hayes | Managing Director
David set up Hyde Park Finance in 2015 to address the disconnect between the rigid and ponderous lending criteria of mainstream banks and the real-life requirements of property professionals. David remains the key point of contact for all clients in Hyde Park Finance. He is a hands-on, relationship-driven banker who enjoys the challenge of taking an individual approach to each case and working closely with his clients at all stages throughout a loan.
Prior to setting up Hyde Park Finance, David was Head of Debt Structuring and Real Estate for Signia Wealth, a London based multi-family office which he helped to establish in 2010. Before joining Signia Wealth, David was Head of UK Private Banking for Anglo Irish Bank. During his time at Anglo, David was an active member of both the UK and Irish credit committees.
David is a graduate of University College Dublin (Bachelor of Commerce) and a life-long Arsenal supporter and a keen fan of rugby. He also has a passion for classic cars.

David Canfield | Director
David is a Director of Hyde Park Finance. His principal day to day role is as Finance Director to the Phones4 founder John Caudwell, but he is also on the board of a number of companies in which Mr Caudwell has an interest. He was previously with British Nuclear Fuels and Volvo where he held a range of senior finance posts, latterly as Group Head of Taxation and Treasury in BNFL’s Head Office. David is a CIMA qualified accountant.

Liam Ablewhite | Head of Finance
Liam joined Hyde Park Finance in 2015, and his responsibilities include deal analysis, financial reporting and risk modelling. His main role is as Deputy Finance Director for John Caudwell, with a focus on wealth management and property development. Previously he held finance roles with Mitchells & Butler plc and Masterlease Group (GMAC).
